Governing basketball in Surrey

Where Surrey's next generation learns the game.

Surrey Basketball Association runs competitive leagues for players aged 7 to adult – from our U10 Central Venue Leagues right through to senior men’s and women’s basketball. We’re the county’s affiliated body under Basketball England.

For players & parents

A place in the league for every age group.

Our Central Venue Leagues run from Under 10 through to Under 18, with games every Sunday across four venues in the county. Each age group has its own format, rules and development focus – designed to grow players as they grow.

  • U10 & U12: passerelle rules, no zone defence, emphasis on playing time
  • U14: faster tempo, full-court defence with 20-point rule
  • U16 & U18: full FIBA rules, two divisions, senior-junior competition
  • Senior: men’s and women’s leagues for adult players

New this season

Girls’ basketball in Surrey – her game, on her court.

2025–26 was the first season we ran standalone U10 and U12 Girls’ divisions in the Surrey CVL. It’s a small start, but a meaningful one: female-only playing spaces where girls set the pace, develop with their peers, and see other girls taking part alongside them.

Our work sits alongside Basketball England’s national programmes to grow the women’s and girls’ game – and we’re proud that one of our clubs, Reading Rockets, is a Her World, Her Rules delivery partner.
